Sheet Metal Workers' International Association - Local 296The majority of our members are sheet metal workers who are employed in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) industry. It is here that they fabricate, install and maintain HVAC systems. Other Sheet Metal workers are employed in specialty areas such as stainless steel work for kitchen equipment, hospitals and plants; sign work; metal decking and siding; heavy metal work and blowpipe; ornamental and decorative sheet metal; architectural work such as copper work; rain protection systems and skylights. Sheet Metal workers prepare shop and field drawings manually and with computer programs. Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association also includes members who are roofers. Roofers install and maintain built up roofs, flat deck roofs and other roofs with a variety of covering materials.
